Dr. Schmitt continues to advocate for the healing power of the arts. She served as a board member (2011-2014) and President (2015-2016) of the Arizona Art Therapy Association and. In 2016, she developed curriculum for a healing arts certificate at Gateway Community College in Phoenix, AZ. She worked as an art therapist and adjunctive therapy director in San Diego and New York City (2005-2010).
Dr. Schmitt graduated from the School of Visual Arts with a Masters in Art Therapy (2005-2007). She earned her registered art therapist credential (ATR), and her board certification (ATR-BC) (2008-2009).
